An Update on OpenSAF

OpenSAF Foundation

The OpenSAF Foundation was founded in January 2008 with Emerson Network Power, Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks, HP and Sun Microsystems as founding members with a goal of accelerating the adoption of the OpenSAF code base in commercial products.

For those not familiar with the OpenSAF project, Emerson Network Power has developed a training series around this open source project, which was established to develop a base platform middleware consistent with Service Availability Forum™ (SA Forum) specifications, under the LGPLv2.1 license.

OpenSAF Training
As a follow-up to the April 1, 2008 Emerson Network Power press announcement regarding OpenSAF training and our Selling Training Services webinar, here are additional details regarding the Embedded Computing business of Emerson Network Power’s OpenSAF Lecture Series recordings.

Positioned as an alternative to structured web-based course offerings, the Lecture Series recordings are pre-recorded with dissected content that targets specific aspects of the OpenSAF environment allowing participants to view only the topics desired.

The Lecture Series is comprised of six recordings covering major major OpenSAF topics.

  • OpenSAF™ Background
  • OpenSAF™ Software Overview
  • OpenSAF™ High Availability
  • OpenSAF™ System Description
  • OpenSAF™ System-Wide Communication
  • OpenSAF™ System-Wide Management Access

In order to allow customers to sample this alternative training format, the first Lecture (OpenSAF Background) is offered at no charge. All other lectures are $50.00 (USD) each. For customers with any interest in OpenSAF, this Lecture Series provides a cost-effective, time-efficient way to learn more about this exciting technology.
