Emerson Network Power VME Single-Board Computer Wins Editor's Choice Award

MVME7100 recognized by VME and Critical Systems magazine for contemporary SBC design

TEMPE, Ariz. [May 14, 2008] – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, today announced that the recently introduced MVME7100 (February, 2008) has been selected as a recipient of the VME and Critical Systems Magazine Editor’s Choice Award.

Selected based on the VMEbus (VME) single-board computer’s (SBC) high performance and proven features, the MVME7100 enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of industrial, medical, defense and aerospace VME platforms to add performance and features for competitive advantage while extending the VME infrastructure lifecycle.

The MVME7100—one of the first VME products with the system-on-chip Freescale MPC8641D processor—features dual PowerPC® e600 processor cores, dual integrated memory controllers, DMA engine, PCI Express interface, Gigabit Ethernet, and local I/O. The latest board also offers a growth path for VME customers with applications on previous generations of VME, which significantly reduces development costs and helps speed time to market.

“It’s great to see Emerson Network Power’s ongoing commitment to the VME market, especially with a product that protects and encourages the fundamental investment in VME,” said Chris Ciufo, Group Editorial Director of VME and Critical Systems Magazine. “We selected the MVME7100 board as the winner of April’s Editor’s Choice Awards because this VME board provides it all—flexibility, reliability, quality and lifecycle advantages—in a contemporary SBC design.”

“In light of the recent acquisition of Motorola’s Embedded Communications Computing business, this award reaffirms Emerson Network Power’s commitment to offer products that will sustain and improve the future of the VME market,” said Jorge Magalhaes, vice president of marketing for the Embedded Computing business of Emerson Network Power. “We will continue to serve our VME customers’ needs by delivering industry-leading solutions that support and strengthen the VME legacy, just as we do with the AdvancedTCA®, MicroTCATM and CompactPCI® open standards.”
