Not to be outdone by Robert Redford and Isabella Rossellini, who were in Barcelona to help promote mobile movies, Emerson’s focus at Mobile World Congress was customers, customers, customers!
Our senior management enjoyed a full schedule of customer and partner meetings, which was invaluable, personal time with some of the most important people in our business.
Our booth featured live ATCA and MicroTCA demonstrations and a static showcase which was well received on customer tours. We also had a live application server demo on a Centellis™ 4100 series platform in the Intel booth featuring application software from BEA Systems and IMS Stream.
As the credits rolled in Barcelona, we were already planning next year’s event and brainstorming ways on how we can do even better. Stay tuned – and we look forward to seeing you next year in Barcelona!
The Next Big Thing
Fast on the heels of the Nuremberg International Toy Fair - the
largest of its kind in the world, was Embedded World, also the largest
of its
kind in the world.
At Embedded World, Emerson teamed up with Avnet Technology Solutions to showcase demonstrations of ATCA, MicroTCA, VMEbus and CompactPCI products.
This event was the first European outing for Emerson’s highest performance VME board. The MVME7100, launched in February, features a dual core PowerPC® processor and 2eSST high speed VMEbus interface.
Visitors were also able to interact with our SpiderWare®M³ Shelf Manager, an intelligent software tool designed for Emerson’s MicroTCA systems.
Nuremberg saw the European launch of our innovative Centellis 500
MicroTCA platform, which certainly caused something of a buzz on
the show floor as it demonstrated video portal functionality.
The buyers at the International Toy Fair may have found the “next big thing” for Christmas, but the Embedded World attendees found the next big thing in embedded computing – at the Emerson booth!
Our Centellis 2000 Two-Slot AdvancedTCA Chassis Wins Best in Show!
The two-slot chassis was recognized for its distinctiveness in demonstrating the central use of AdvancedTCA and ability to offer significant business and technical benefits. The platform provides all the business benefits of larger communications servers, but in a compact, two-slot version. With the ability to reuse any of the AdvancedTCA payload from its larger peers, the Centellis 2000 offers a cost-effective, industry standard solution suitable for smaller scale deployments, allowing network equipment providers to be able to take advantage of their existing AdvancedTCA deployments by reusing hardware and software.
And the Winner is...
The 2007 Intel® Embedded and Communications Alliance (ECA) Big Momentum MicroTCA Initiative Award of Excellence was presented to the Embedded Computing business of Emerson Network Power for its leadership in the MicroTCA market.
